Public Guardian Office – County of Marin Dept. of Health and Human Services

The Public Guardian is appointed by the Marin County Probate Court as a Probate Conservator for individuals who have no family or friends to assist them. This type of conservatorship is to assist persons who are substantially unable to manage for themselves. There is probate of person where in the conservator makes decisions regarding food, clothing, shelter, and health care. Conservator of the estate allows the conservator to find, secure and manage all the financial assets of the conservatorship. A Probate Conservatorship remains in effect indefinitely unless the conservatee becomes capable of managing his/her own affairs.
